PowerWatch & the Unlimited Potential of Thermoelectrics

Ort: Halle 26 / Red Innovation Engine

Akram will discuss the development of Matrix Industries’ revolutionary thermoelectric technology, currently setting the stage for the future of wearables. The award-winning PowerWatch is the world’s first smartwatch to harvest energy from body heat, and the first wearable to offer consumers uninterrupted ability and a battery charger-free future. As well as tracking sleep and steps, it tells you how much electricity your body heat is producing, making it the most accurate measure of burned calories on the market, too. If the pioneering thermal design is able to harvest the small amount of available heat on the outside of the wrist, imagine what this power source could do if applied to other parts of the body. Moving forward, it could be utilised in wireless earbuds, AR glasses, clothing, even non-wearable devices. Akram will also be touching upon the imminent new cooling technology that Matrix Industries has developed, effectively a ground-breaking reversal of the PowerWatch chip.

The possibility of autonomous driving

Ort: Halle 26 / Blue Innovation Engine

Autonomous driving will definitely improve all aspects of our lives. The real autopilot will eventually become reality, involving technical, moral and ethical issues. Technology has been growing rapidly in a high speed, but there are lots of barriers ahead of us. Uber senior research scientist, the guest professor of Department of Computer Science of Columbia University, Erran Li said that for Autopilot, if you have handled 90 percent of the problems, then the remaining 10 percent will even take 100 times of effort. And I always believe that autonomous driving technology will not be the ultimate bottleneck, but in the existing cities, ethics and morality is an insurmountable barrier in front of us. The ultimate solution for autonomous driving is based on autonomous driving technology to build a new city that all traffic rules, all infrastructure are based on serving the Autopilot Technology with vehicle synergy system. It is capable of exponentially reducing technical complexity.

Revolutionizing the consumer electronics market with a simple plug-in subscription solution

Ort: Halle 26 / Red Innovation Engine

The consumer electronics (CE) market is undergoing drastic changes – As products get more expensive and innovation cycles shorter, consumers demand more flexibility to access, switch and upgrade products. There is a clear trend towards access and away from ownership, with consumers caring less about owning their tech and more about simply having access to it. However, Europe’s biggest (online) CE retailers don’t offer an access over ownership option for obtaining products. This is where Grover comes in: Grover brings the access economy to the CE market by offering a monthly subscription model for the best in tech. Grover’s subscription model (aside from being a stand-alone service) can be integrated as a simple plug-in solution by any (online) seller and has been done so by DE’s biggest CE retailers. In this presentation, Stephan Dreier gives insights into the Grover model, its value for partners such as the retail giants already using it, and how it is revolutionizing the CE market.

Challenging the Smart Home Market to „Do More“ for People

Ort: Halle 26 / Red Innovation Engine

Smart home technology and services have taken the world by storm in recent years, and worldwide spending on smart home devices totaled an all-time annual high of nearly $96 billion in 2018. While the market is packed with smart devices that will turn on your lights or play your favorite music, these devices fail to address a severely underrepresented need that is far more important in the long run: your health. Given the current landscape of incredibly advanced technological capabilities in the smart home market, there should be an inherent responsibility among smart home businesses to utilize the data they gather and the insights at their disposal to improve the health and everyday lives of people everywhere – not just their customers. Through application of data and key partnerships, Airthings is working to reinvent the template for corporate responsibility in the smart home sector by challenging the market to „do more“ for public health and livelihood in the decades to come.

The Taste of Tech

Ort: Halle 26 / Red Innovation Engine

Smart home technology has become common place, with Amazon Alexas, Google Homes and other intelligent assistants used to control everything from light switches to thermostats. But the kitchen remains relatively „dumb”. Smart fridges make it easier to see whether you have milk while at the grocery store, but you’ll still need to turn around and go back if you think you might have left the oven on. Wireless power for kitchen appliances will soon change that, making it easier than ever to make every aspect of the kitchen more intelligent, while also making smaller kitchens more versatile, making family dinner prep more of a family activity and making it easier to maintain a modern look-and-feel to a cordless kitchen. In this session, we will discuss the wireless kitchen as the next frontier in smart home technology and explore the innovations wireless power offers the kitchen ecosystem.

How artificial intelligence help the world to connect?

Ort: Halle 26 / Red Innovation Engine

Artificial Intelligence has been the fastest growing hotspot for public concerns. There are many companies who are eager to get their places in AI, with a goal to become a leading player in the industry. AI is growing, but it is not yet at a point where the majority of the public audience think or believe it is already at. In my speech, I´d like to express my opinion about how AI would help shape the world, and how it can help connecting people, cultures, countries, and all other differences we are facing today.

Dispelling the myth of the cloud power in AI and voice recognition

Ort: Halle 26 / Red Innovation Engine

The adoption of voice interfaces is overwhelming. It is now ordinary to have a cloud-powered microphone in our pocket, home, vehicle, etc. However, the concerns are rising regarding privacy and security risks associated with such voice interfaces due to the sensitivity of the data shared with the voice assistants. In addition, voice assistants requiring high quality internet connection and cannot be used in offline environments. These concerns have motivated further research towards alternative solutions for Speech Recognition, that wouldn´t run in the cloud. These alternative solutions, in addition to cloud independence and offline capabilities, require low computing power and run on a wide range of small under $10 devices. State of the art machine learning and artificial intelligence is not reserved to the cloud giants.

Auditory experiences are more powerful than visual ones. SHIVR has recognized that. Their headset brings audio lovers worldwide, a daring sound experience. Their new APF technology (Acoustic Power Field) was developed by sound engineers obsessed with quality and auditory effects that you can almost touch. The unmatched audio creates an arcade of sound that travels inwards, from ear to ear, from within, immersing you into the music that reproduces real life spatiality. This headset makes you discover the physics of sound for the first time. It sends you on a roller-coaster of sound symmetry and creates decibels flow perfection.

Why Cameras Are Not the Future of Home Security

Ort: Halle 26 / Blue Innovation Engine

2014 Nils Mattisson was working for Apple´s exploratory design. After speaking to engineers at Airbnb, he saw a problem that people renting out their homes to strangers were facing – monitoring. But why? Cameras were out of the question for privacy reasons, and traditional security systems were not designed for this. There was a gap in the market for a solution that balanced privacy with the need for monitoring. With three other co-founders on-board, bringing expertise from Google and Apple, the Minut team developed a new type of monitoring system. And while they initially intended to build a solution for the vacation rental market, they quickly realized they had built something far more powerful, and the need in the market for non-invasive smart monitoring was not confined to the rental market. The device, which fits in the palm of your hand, is the world’s first all-in-one home alarm powered by machine learning. It protects your home – and respects your privacy.

Ort: Halle 26 / Red Innovation Engine

In Deutschland wurden 2018 nur 36.062 E-Autos verkauft. Bis 2020, so hieß es mal, sollen 1 Million E-Autos in Deutschland unterwegs sein. Doch der Wandel kommt nicht. Was ist da los?

When device is offline, we can`t know its state that breaks the loop for complete debug and further troubleshooting. The Foundation and Future of Blockchain Industry

Ort: Halle 26 / Blue Innovation Engine

Blockchain is the next generation of the most revolutionary industry. After the Internet and AI, it will change the whole financial and human social behavior. The security of private keys is essential under its „decentralized structure“, which has become the foundation of Blockchain industry. According to the Gartner Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies, all revolutionary innovation industries experience a decade before the industry introduction period. Only crossing the chasm, the industry can enter the growth period and move into a long-term healthy growth path. In the past 10 years, cryptocurrencies and the entire blockchain industry had experienced the decline of high expectations for cryptocurrency/ICO speculation frenzy from 2016 to 2017. During the melting down in 2018, we found not only Blockchain 1.0 applications grew steadily, but also Blockchain 2.0 such as smart contracts/financial applications and Blockchain 3.0 converging with IoT applications had grown significantly.

PowerWatch & the Unlimited Potential of Thermoelectrics

The possibility of autonomous driving

SHIVR Brings the Heavy Artillery to the World of Great Audio Quality

Ort: Halle 26 / Blue Innovation Engine

Voice activated consumer electronics and translation systems – how this will influence people’s life

Ort: Halle 26 / Red Innovation Engine

Now we´re talking! Voice activation is being adopted at a faster than ever pace and is changing the way we do things. 22 percent of people who own voice assistant devices report that use voice commands to listen to music (61%), check the weather forecast (60 percent), asking fun questions (54 percent), researching (53 percent) or shopping (22 percent). With translation systems becoming more accurate and cheaper every day, the possibilities of using voice commands in different languages are now endless. This will open new doors to break down language barriers across the world and offer a new, more human relationship with technology.
